Alberta Association of Physiotherapy

Andrea Thomson

Bio:

Andrea has always been a mover. Dancing, playing competitive soccer and a variety of team sports left her fascinated with movement and how it is created.  Fuelled by a passion to learn from, connect and create with others, the field of physical therapy is a natural fit.

In 2004, Andrea graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.  She has been practicing in St. Albert since 2006.  Andrea is trained in the Integrated Systems Model, Connect Therapy™ , and the Thoracic Ring Approach™ .  The opportunity to learn from Diane Lee and Dr. Linda-Joy Lee truly shaped her practice and challenged her to dig deeper into the connections of the body and the role a person’s story plays on their healing journey. She has taken courses in visceral manipulation, neural manipulation, and a variety of manual therapy and movement-based techniques. She is certified in Anatomical Acupuncture.  An eternal student at heart, Andrea continues to take professional development courses to help her better support her patients health.

Andrea enjoys working with all types of patients, but has a particular interest in working with artistic athletes (i.e. dancers and skaters) to enhance the artistic quality of their performance while preventing injuries.

When she’s not with patients, Andrea enjoys being outdoors cycling or running; doing yoga, pilates or a Peloton workout in her home gym.  She loves creative projects with her kids and organizing and decorating a space. Most of all, it’s time to connect with friends and family that fills her cup.
