Jenny Li
Bio:
I am a UK-trained physiotherapist with over two decades of experience operating private practices in the UK and Canada.
Background
Originally from England, I have lived in Calgary since 2012. From an early age, I had a keen interest in horse riding and competition. An occupational hazard of this sport is that I suffered several injuries which is where my interest in injury management, fitness and physiotherapy began. Initially I worked as a Sports Massage Therapist and later trained to be a Sports Therapist,(Athletic Therapist) treating many professional/elite athletes and professional sports teams. However, I craved in-depth knowledge to resolve more complex cases which led me to complete two degrees in Rehabilitation Science and Physiotherapy. I still have an insatiable drive for finding solutions for complex conditions through research. I pride myself in finding solutions for my patients however unusual their presentation is. I am constantly upgrading my skills and post-grad qualifications.
Professional experience
In the UK I worked for the West Midlands Police (the second largest force in the UK) to set up its physiotherapy service to provide effective treatments for their officers/staff and support them in getting back to work quickly following injuries. I have also consulted for numerous companies on occupational injuries and provided workshops for their staff to help reduce workplace injures. Here is a selection of professional teams, elite athletes, musicians and stage performers I have worked with:
- Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra
- Canadian Judo Silver Medalist (66kg Masters)
- Double Canadian U16/U18 Judo Champion (63kg)
- Birmingham City Football Club
