Alberta Association of Physiotherapy

Claire Harris

Bio:

Claire completed her Master of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Alberta. Her interest in physiotherapy stemmed from volunteer work in pediatric rehabilitation, and years of competitive ballet.

During her time as a physiotherapist, Claire has had the privilege of working with clients who have experienced a variety of different concerns. This includes everything from pain and injury after motor vehicle accidents to postural dysfunction, chronic pain, and sport related injuries.

In treating chronic low back and pelvic girdle pain, she developed a special interest in pelvic health. She realized that the impact of the pelvic floor on overall health is often under-appreciated, and the pelvic floor under-treated. Conditions such as pelvic pain, urgency, incontinence, diastasis recti, pelvic organ prolapse and others can have a major impact on quality of life, regardless of gender. Claire feels strongly that successful rehabilitation requires consideration of the whole person, their goals, and examination of the underlying cause of dysfunction.

Claire has obtained a variety of post graduate certifications including advanced training in pelvic health and Intra-Muscular Stimulation (IMS). Claire is also a Clinical Pilates Instructor and utilizes the principles of pilates to support the rehabilitation process.

Outside of the clinic, Claire enjoys activity, spending time with her family and chasing her busy toddler and dog.
