Joey Mo

Bio:

Joey completed his Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta. His primary areas of interest include manual therapy, dry needling, and orthopaedic assessment.

Joey’s background includes experience at the University of Alberta Hospital in cardiac sciences, orthopaedic surgery, neurosciences, intensive care, and transplants, as well as several years in outpatient orthopaedics and sports in both Edmonton and Leduc. He is most known for his work at Copeman Healthcare Center, a private, full-service medical practice in downtown Edmonton.

He is certified as a K-Taping Specialist through K-Taping Academy Canada, as an acupuncture practitioner through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute, and is a Kinetacore functional dry needling graduate. Joey is also on the Physiotherapy Alberta roster to perform spinal and peripheral manipulation, is certified as a vestibular therapist through the Dizziness and Balance Rehabilitation Clinic and is an R2P Concussion Management specialist.

He has completed both upper and lower quadrant education through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. He is certified to order diagnostic imaging and is part of a small percentage of physical therapists in Alberta to be able to perform all of the advanced restricted activities mandated by the College.

Joey has a keen interest in staying connected to the literature and is particularly interested in developing best practice protocols for physiotherapists practicing acupuncture and dry needling, as well as movement assessments to guide physical injury prevention. He is a teaching assistant at the University of Alberta and is part of the Physiotherapy Alberta Conduct Committee, upholding the profession to a higher standard of practice and safeguarding the public.

Outside of physical therapy, Joey spends time with his wife, two children and a bichon shih-tzu, and enjoys basketball, volleyball, and ultramarathon running.
