Alberta Association of Physiotherapy

Laura Kean

Bio:

Laura’s physio practice focuses on neurologic, vestibular and geriatric rehabilitation. She has a special interest and training in balance and fall prevention using a fitness forward and neurophysiology informed approach. Her treatments focus on education,  individual exercise prescription and hands on techniques to help patients improve their function and reach their goals. She is a strong believer that age or disability should not define participation. Her goal is to empower patients, so they can keep moving for life with confidence.

Laura has completed post graduate training in vestibular and concussion therapy, is a certified Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!) therapist and has completed training in the Bobath Concept, a hands on facilitation treatment approach for neurological injuries. She has completed three levels of training and is now a certified Modern Management of the Older Adult therapist through the Physiotherapy Institute of Clinical Excellence which focuses on strength training and building resiliency in older adults. She believes it’s never to late to get strong. She is a member of Loop Falls Prevention group and is working with Finding Balance Alberta to help educate the community on a larger scale about falls prevention.
